I thought it was time to dust off the proverbial cobwebs and write some content, it’s certainly been in a while!

In the past year I’ve bought a few men’s magazines (mostly from airport retailers) and have particularly enjoyed reading the likes of The Rake and GQ.

I’ve always been an avid reader when it comes to men’s magazines, including other publishing behemoths such as The Gentleman’s Journal and Esquire, these glossy magazines have also inspired me, my podcast The Retro Wet Shaving Podcast came from the love of reading about male grooming features.

My resurgence of reading these magazines and in particular their fashion features is why I’m sitting in front of my laptop on a Sunday morning and to give you an idea on what to expect this Autumn/Fall. If you’re looking for some new threads, this post is for you, talking of threads, though the digital kind, if you want to talk about your latest fashion purchases or want to talk about fashion in general, please follow me on Threads 🧵.

Go long — The Long Coat for this Autumn

Whether you want to be ballsy and go bare-chested or even bare-legged or go with the conventional sweater underneath, this versatile item has been seen on the cat walk this year. The pictured item is from AllSaints, as their CEO puts it, “I believe our brand’s DNA at its very core is not a look. I believe it’s an attitude, it’s a feeling… And most importantly I believe it’s ALIVE.”

This timeless piece definitely has that feel with it’s check pattern, mix this with an ‘statement’ scarf and you’ll definitely be on-trend.

Smells like Teen Spirit — Grunge look

“Hello, hello, hello, how low!” The early 90s resurgence of grunge has made a comeback and if you’re looking for something to go with your Nirvana t-shirt, the above item from Boohoo is worth adding.

Ripped jeans and a minuscule beanie will furthermore add to the grunge look. You’ll fit right in in Seattle! 🤘

Hells Angel Fashionista — Long live the Biker jacket

Whether you own a Harley or not, this is one essential item that should be in your wardrobe for the Autumn season. Saint-Lauren this year in their fashion show encorparated this iconic fashion staple and demonstrated just how incredibly timeless and versatile this leather garment is. You don’t have to be Johnny Ramone or have a biker’s license to own one.

Make a statement with an oversized-scarf

There’s always one trend that’s about making a statement, this Autumn it’s no different with the oversized-scarf.

This year we’ve seen an array of fashion houses from Fendi to Giorgio Armani enlarge the woollen accessory. If this is your preferred look this season, you’ll be glad to know that people won’t think you’re off to a Doctor Who convention!

Show some skin — Shirtless suit

Less is more, leaving more to the imagination or a hint of it seems to be an ‘in’ thing right now in the men’s fashion world. Fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana showed what they’ve had to offer (or less!) at previous fashion shows with shirtless suits. If you’re feeling brave this Autumn with a cooler temperature or want to show off your gym ab work efforts, this one is for you!

So which of these Men’s Fashion Trends Autumn 2023 are your favourites or are there any others out there that are tipped to have a huge influence this season?
